Living in Stonebridge, Saskatoon

Shopping at your doorstep and a quick run downtown.

Stonebridge was built out through the 2000s on the south east edge of the city, and it is the neighbourhood I get asked about most by Filipino families arriving in Saskatoon.

The appeal is simple: almost everything you need day to day is inside the neighbourhood, and the Circle Drive South bridge puts the rest of the city within a short drive.

The Feel of the Neighbourhood

What Stonebridge is actually like.

Busy, convenient and young. Lots of strollers on the pathways in the evening and a steady flow of traffic around the retail area.

Stonebridge is popular with many Filipino families I work with, especially those looking for convenient shopping, newer homes, and easy access around the city.

Who Stonebridge suits best

  • Families who want groceries, banking and restaurants within a five minute drive
  • Newcomers who would rather not rely on a long bus route
  • Buyers looking at newer construction without going to the very edge of the city

Local Amenities

What is close by.

Stonebridge Common

The large retail area along Cornish Road and Preston Avenue covers big box shopping, groceries, pharmacies, banks and a wide range of restaurants.

Chief Whitecap School

A K–8 public school inside the neighbourhood with a French immersion track, so many families never have to leave the area for elementary.

The Willows

The golf course community sits right beside Stonebridge, and the green space along its edge is a favourite for evening walks.

Parks and pathways

A connected pathway network links the smaller parks through the neighbourhood rather than concentrating everything in one central park.

Property Types

What you will find for sale.

Two storey family homes

The most common style here — three to four bedrooms, attached double garage, and a mix of fully and partially developed basements.

Bungalows and bi-levels

Fewer of these, but they turn up regularly and are worth watching if stairs are a concern.

Townhouses and condos

A solid supply of townhouse condos along the edges, which is where a lot of first time buyers and investors start in Stonebridge.

Getting around

  • Circle Drive South is the main artery — downtown is usually a 12 to 15 minute drive outside rush hour.
  • The University of Saskatchewan is roughly 15 to 20 minutes depending on which route you take across the river.
  • Transit runs through the neighbourhood, but most households here end up with two vehicles.

What I tell my clients before they buy here

  • Traffic around the retail area gets heavy at supper time and on weekends — worth driving the route at that hour before you commit.
  • Some streets back directly onto Circle Drive or Preston Avenue. The price difference is real, and so is the road noise.
  • Condo fees on the townhouse complexes vary widely. I always pull the condo documents before we write an offer.
